There are several ways to post your videos on Instagram.
Here are the relevant requirements/specs for each option, with the recommended format:
In-Feed videos and In-Feed video ads:
- Video aspect ratio: Landscape (1.91:1), Square (1:1), Vertical (4:5)
- Minimum resolution: 600 x 315 pixels (1.91:1 landscape) / 600 x 600 pixels (1:1 square) / 600 x 750 pixels (4:5 vertical)
- Recommended specs: maximum file size 4GB, maximum length 60 seconds, maximum frame rate 30 FPS
If you plan on posting your video to the feed - we would highly recommend that you select the "Square" orientation (during the video creation process or during the editing process) to create videos with the relevant aspect ratio.
Instagram Story and Stories video ads:
- Video aspect ratio: Vertical/portrait (9:16)
- Minimum resolution: Videos should have a minimum frame rate of 30 FPS and minimum resolution of 720 pixels (720 X 1280).
- Recommended size: 1080 X 1920 pixels
If you plan on posting your video as story - we would highly recommend that you use the “Portrait” orientation (during the video creation process or during the editing process) to create videos with the relevant aspect ratio.
Instagram IGTV videos:
- Video aspect ratio: Vertical/portrait (9:16)
- Minimum resolution: 600 X 1067 pixels.
- Recommended size: 1080 X 1920 pixels
- Additional information: The maximum file size for videos that are 10 minutes or less is 650MB. The maximum file size for videos up to 60 minutes is 3.6GB.
If you plan on posting your video to your IGTV channel - we would highly recommend that you use the “Portrait” orientation (during the video creation process or during the editing process) to create videos with the relevant aspect ratio.
Instagram carousel video ads:
- Video aspect ratio: Square (1:1)
- Minimum resolution: 600 X 600 pixels.
- Recommended specs: maximum length 60 seconds, maximum frame rate 30fps
